There's something profoundly different about creating a custom piece of jewelry. You don't start with a predefined idea, a collection designed for many: you start with you. 1. The first meeting: listening before creating
It all begins with a conversation. Whether it's via message, email, or in person, the first step is always to listen. What do you want the piece of jewelry to represent? Is there a symbol, an animal, a memory that inspires you? Does it have a special meaning, a loved one, a moment in your life? The more details you share, the more truly yours the jewelry will be. There are no strange requests: every story deserves to be told in metal.
2. The sketch: the idea takes shape on paper
After gathering your vision, we move on to sketches. One or more hand-drawn sketches are created to interpret your request, with proportions, details, and variations. This phase is a dialogue: the sketch is shared with you, your feedback is gathered, adjusted, and refined.
3. The wax sculpture: where the magic begins
With the sketch approved, we begin sculpting the model in jewelry wax. Every shape is built by hand, millimeter by millimeter, with small, precise tools. For custom pieces, this phase is even more delicate than for collection pieces: there is no reference model, no tried-and-tested shape. It is built from scratch, faithful to your idea. The wax is worked, heated, corrected, until the shape exactly matches what you had imagined.
4. Lost-wax casting
The wax model is then encased in a refractory plaster cylinder. In the oven, the wax melts, leaving a perfect cavity, a negative mold of your jewelry. Molten metal is poured into that cavity: 925 silver or gold, depending on your choice. When the metal cools and the plaster is removed, your piece of jewelry exists for the first time in the real world. It is always an exciting moment.
5. Finishing and personalization
The raw piece is then carefully worked: filing, sanding, removing every imperfection. But for custom pieces, there is often an additional step: final personalization. An engraving, a date, a name, a symbol added by hand. These details transform a beautiful piece of jewelry into a piece that is yours, unique.
6. Polishing and final inspection
Every surface is polished according to your preferences, to a mirror finish, satin, or with oxidized areas to create depth and contrast. Before delivery, the jewelry is carefully examined: welds, symmetry, surface quality. Only when it is perfect does it receive the hallmark and is prepared for you, with the care it deserves.
7. Delivery: the most beautiful moment
Receiving a piece of jewelry made just for you is a different experience from buying something off-the-shelf. You know there isn't another one like it in the world.
